           Vietnam Airlines completes "Sustainable Flight Challenge"

           The 2nd Sustainable Flight Challenge

 

    “The Sustainable Flight Challenge”(TSFC) was the program launched by the global airline alliance SkyTeam to encourage solutions to reduce emissions from the aviation sector towards sustainable development for the future.

     As the national airline, Vietnam Airlines(VNA) always puts efforts into fulfilling its missions for the community. To participate in this program, VNA has launched a sustainable flight on the route Hanoi - Frankfruit on May 26th, 2023 with many practical environmental protection solutions such as: special gifts which were pouches made from hundreds of expired life jackets; 10% discount code for each guest who brings their own cup, vase, bottle, coat, or blanket; the sustainable menu which was specially designed with the main ingredients being a protein souce from sustainably cultivated U.S. soybeans.

    To promote the healthy dishes featuring U.S. soybeans and U.S. soy ingredients, various tradditional Vietnamese dishes were well served, such as: panna cotta from soybeans with coconut milk, Vong village’s dessert, grilled plant-based meat rolls with avocado and mango salsa sauce, Vietnamese breads with grilled soy-based meat rolls with sour & sweet vegetables.

  Recognizing the importance of consuming quality soybeans, VNA approached to cooperate with the United States Soybean Export Council (USSEC) to raise consumer awareness about environmental protection and sustainable development for the future. Through this cooperation, VNA – the Vietnam's national airline - had a wide influence and ability to serve a diverse range of customers. On the other hand, USSEC, with its in-depth knowledge of sustainable soybean production, offered soy products that had produced using environmentally responsible and sustainable methods. By combining their strengths, the two parties worked together to build a powerful story that emphasizes the importance of sustainable food and ingredients sourcing to a global audience. Besides, the creation of typical Vietnamese dishes from American soybeans helped passengers have a unique and new experience and bring this food closer to consumers.
